05 — Home of Nancy and Dean Lurker— East Meets West in This Luxurious Pass-A-Grille Beach House
A Welcoming Entrance with Global Inspiration
Step inside this newly constructed beach house of Nancy and Dean Lurker built in 2023, where the welcoming foyer with striking chandelier sets the tone for many surprises beyond. The entire home tastefully combines touches of the Orient with coastal charm. Hence, East meets West. To do this thoughtful design, Nancy and her decorator turned to the book Beautiful by Mark D. Sikes for inspiration. In this house you will find a collection of Asian art, China, furniture and collectables, acquired by the homeowners over years of extensive travel and business trips.
Light-Filled Living with Panoramic Bay Views
As you travel up the steps to the main living area, you will discover a wall of glass doors, creating a sundrenched area with exceptional views of the Pass-A-Grille Channel and Boca Ciega Bay. A comfortable sitting area in serene shades of blue, with grand piano, serves as the perfect place to relax and entertain guests. The massive great room includes a chef’s kitchen with high end appliances, quartzite natural stone countertop island, wet bar and plenty of cabinets for storage. A wall of glass front cabinets displays the homeowner’s prized China and collectables.
Artful Details and Thoughtful Guest Spaces
Nancy designed the mosaic tiled wall in the powder room featuring plants and a bird that appears to perch on the custom chandelier light above the sink. A coastal painting is reminiscent of the time the family spent on the Chesapeake Bay. Three additional bedrooms on this floor, with ensuite bathrooms, provide plenty of room for family and guests. Take note of the attention to details as in the “coral” room where the tile and vanity in the bathroom match the color of the furniture.
Retreat upstairs to the private quarters, where the expansive primary suite awaits. The primary bedroom, with coastal blues and views of the bay, create a serene ambiance. Every thoughtful touch has been included with a coffee bar, luxurious dressing room, and ensuite bathroom. In the bathroom shower you will again be transported to the Orient with cherry blossom and dragon fly mosaic tiles, individual vanities and sinks, and a relaxing soaking tub with views of the water beyond. A bonus area on this floor with cathedral ceilings offers flexibility as a home office and guest lounge. While a private elevator allows easy access to each floor.
Resort-Style Amenities from Pool to Dock
On the ground floor facing the bay, a saltwater pool is the perfect place to take a dip after a workout in the home gym or walk on the beach. A few steps from the pool and patio is the dock and boat lift for the homeowner’s boat. Just inside the doors leading from the patio, is another comfortable gathering place and a changing room with storage for beach gear and towels and beyond a two car garage.
A Home That Honors Personal Style and Place
The homeowners were able to show that you don’t have to give up the things you love when moving to Florida. They found it is possible to enjoy the Asian art and collectables while at the same time making it work in a “beautiful” coastal beach house.
